What Is the Attack on Titan World?

Published between 2009 and 2021 first in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, then as a paper manga in 34 volumes, Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) is written and drawn by Hajime Isayama, famous Japanese mangaka. The success of this manga is very fast, and an anime was released in 2013 with a first season of 25 episodes. However, we have to wait until 2017 to watch the 2nd season of 12 episodes, then 2018 for the 3rd season of 22 episodes divided into 2 parts, and finally 2020 for the first part of the fourth season (We are impatiently waiting for the second part!).

In this world devastated by the appearance of the titans, 100 years before the beginning of the story, we discover the world through the eyes of Eren Jäger, a young boy who has known nothing but life within the 3 walls that constitute the last bulwark of Humanity against the titans. With his friends Mikasa and Armin, Eren dreams of the vast world that lies behind the Maria Wall. But one day, reality catches up with them: the wall that protects them falls under the attacks of the Titans who infiltrate and destroy the city of Shiganshina where Eren grew up, killing his mother and a large part of the population. Forced to leave his district, Eren vows revenge by exterminating the Titans and ending the injustice of this life without a future within the walls.

To succeed, he joins the army and, as his training in combat with three-dimensional equipment finally comes to an end, he and his comrades face another titanic attack on the Pink Wall. During the fighting, Eren discovers, without really understanding what is happening to him, that he can transform himself into a titan. Who is Eren really? Does he hold the explanation to the mystery of the titans without knowing it? Will the key left by his father Grisha Jäger to open the mysterious basement of his house in Shiganshina give access to the answers? To find out, Humanity must reclaim the city and push the titans beyond the Maria Wall. Eren joins the Exploration Battalion commanded by Erwin Smith, where he joins the unit of Corporal Livai, the finest soldier humanity has ever known.
